Biography
Sky is a smiling happy girl who seems to love everybody and craves lots of attention.
She was surrendered to DRNA after the woman who rescued her from a shelter
realized that Sky really doesn’t like to be alone. And since she had a full-time job, no
other dogs and lived in an apartment this was a problem. So, we need to find Sky a
home, not an apartment or townhouse where she isn’t alone for long times daily. And
one that must have a companion dachshund for those times when her people have to
leave the house. When at home her person will find her snuggled right next to them on
the sofa. Sky will maneuver around, step over other dogs to be pressed against you and
will be following her person around the house when not sitting down. She loves belly
rubs and will roll over every chance she gets.
Sky loves playing with the other young dachshunds and running in the fenced yard in
her foster home. So ideally her new home needs a dachshund that is younger (under 8
yrs) and is playful. Sky is an Alpha female, so a more laid back doxie friend is needed.
She is not Cat friendly and has not been tested around big dogs.
House training needs work and is getting better with access to a doggie door and
fenced yard. But like most dachshunds she doesn’t like going out in the rain. She does
seem to be piddle pad (cloth ones) trained and will use one if she can’t or won’t go
outside.
Sky is used to sleeping in a big bed but will sleep in a crate if another dachshund is
nearby with some argument (barking) from her. She loves toys but it is a squeaky toy
destroyer. She likes to plays “dachshund fetch”… wants you to throw it and may or may
not bring it all the way back for you to throw again. Loves chewing on chewy bones.
So, if you think you are the right forever home for Sky please submit a application.
DRNA wants to be sure to put her in the right forever home as she has already been
moved 3 times in the last year that we know of and don’t want to risk her to lose her
happy loving personality.
