Some of you may remember Abby (formerly Chelsea). She came to us in Dec 2019 from TX. We pulled her from a make shift shelter (it was basically a big shed with no front on it and crates stacked on top of each other) She was HUGELY pregnant and luckily one of my TX gals got her out of there. She had 11 puppies shortly after. She was heartworm positive so once the puppies were weaned , we started her on treatment. After that treatment (which took a few months) she had multiple mammary masses that got infected so we treated those and then had surgery to remove them. Finally after a well needed recovery , she was adopted Sept 2020. Sadly, her adopter returned her after 4 years. She was upset about giving Abby back but knew she was no longer able to care for her due to her own health issues. Abby is the sweetest girl who loves human contact. She just wants to sit on the couch next to you and get rubs (she will nudge you if you stop petting her, its so cute). She’s a super easy dog , totally house broken and healthy for an 8-9yr old gal that’s been through all she has. She gets along fine with other dogs, cats and LOVES kids. My wish for her is that she can find her final retirement home, someone to love and care for her until her last days - she deserves that ! Her adoption fee is $150 but will be waived for adopters 60yrs and older. Must travel to Pasadena, MD to meet/adopt Abby. |
