Thanks for taking a look at Georgie! Georgie was given up by his former owners to a high kill shelter without regard for his welfare. We believe he had a pretty awful home as the words they said when giving him up were, "We don't do animals." We believe he spent a good portion of his life outside since he was pretty dirty and had some ticks and skin rash when rescued. We will never know for sure exactly what happened to Georgie, but it takes him a bit of time to trust people. His foster mom had to go to the shelter two days in a row to earn his basic trust. Of course, the fact that he was housed in a very scary place, did not help. Once in his foster home, within 24 hours, she was able to bathe him and trim his nails. On the 2nd day, he willingly came in the house without having to be picked up and enjoys sitting by her side on the couch. Georgie is crate trained, quiet, excellent with other dogs his size (he lives with 4 in his foster home), and appears to be house-trained. Georgie will not be adopted to a home with children. He needs a quiet, safe, trusting environment with a fenced yard and another sweet dog in the home. He is very gentle with other animals. Georgie needs a human or two that will embrace his fears, build his confidence and allow him to experience a happy and safe life. Once Georgie trusts you, he is the sweetest little guy! He still looks around like he's on guard waiting for something bad to happen. Will you be the one to show him that his bad days are over? ****Applicants must be willing to drive to Ellicott City, Maryland (10 miles south of Baltimore) to meet and adopt Georgie.**** |
