| Adoption fee waived- Gracie has a history of IVDD with back surgery. For that reason, she is on pain medication daily. She should never be allowed to jump off furniture or go up and down stairs, she must be lifted and carried. She gets along with other dogs and loves her people. She is an adorable, sweet gal that needs a special home. If you think you can give Gracie a wonderful home, please fill out an application. Gracie's story is a sad one. She was a spoiled baby until she went down in the back and her elderly owner was no longer able to care for her. She recovered from her back episode and was adopted by a repeat DRNA adopter who loved and spoiled her as well. Later, she had another back episode which lead to back surgery. The trooper that she is, Gracie recovered from the surgery and walked gain. Gracie went everywhere with her adopter, including the office. Unfortunately, Gracie was returned to DRNA when her owner became hospitalized and unable to care for her. I can only imagine how confused Gracie must be. “I am a sweet 15-year-old, 12lb. dachshund. I am looking for a loving home to retire in. I am a little slow moving because I have arthritis and back issues in the past. I will need to continue with the meds that I am now taking for some pain relief. I will need a home without any steps or an adopter that can carry me up and down. My spring has already sprung and I cannot climb steps. I go up and down a ramp at my foster home and do fine with the ramp. Just like all older dogs, I do like to take more naps than those young whipper snappers. I sometimes will have an accident in my bed when I get up. My foster mom said this problem can be reduced by taking me out more often. It would be best if my adopted person was a work at home or retired person.
