| Jack is one of the sweetest doxies that you will ever meet. Jack acts much like a puppy and has alot of energy. When he was given up, his owner did not tell us he was deaf. This is about par for a double dapple dachshund. His foster home believes he needs a home that will be patient with him and be willing to learn about dealing with deaf dogs. They can be trained to hand signals. Deaf dogs can be normal dogs! There is a great yahoo group that is for deaf dog owners: deafdogs@yahoogroups.com Jack would do best in a home where he can be allowed to go outside several times during the day. He loves sleeping in his crate and can stay dry all night. When left in crate during the day (10-12 hours) while owner was at work Jack would urinate in crate. This has improved in foster home where the family works different shifts and Jack is not left alone for very long periods of time. Jack loves his doxie foster brother and sister along with the sheperd mix sister. He has to get used to the larger dogs but once he knows them Jack is fine. I would like someone in the Northern VA/Richmond/Baltimore area to adopt him so if anything goes wrong with the placement Jack may easily be returned to me. If you have any questions please let me know at: inaeaves@verizon.net. This is a wonderful dog waiting for you!!! |
