| Gisele is a very sweet girl. She is learing to be a dog! When she first came to rescue she did not walk... she belly crawled with her tail tucked under her. This is a reflection of her poor self esteem and submissiveness. She also didn't know how to eat food from a bowl, take a treat, be petted, or even go out / in the house door. This little girl was so emotionally neglected. After only a short time in her foster home with other dachshunds, Gisele is learing to be the beautiful little girl that she is! She is actually walking, not crawling. The tail even wags! She will eat out of her food bowl, but still prefers to eat from the ground. She will take a treat from her foster mom. Her favorite place to hang out is on a pillow on the couch. Gisele rarely barks. She has learned to give kisses and this is one of her favorite ways to interact with her foster mom. Gisele is fine with everyone - children, adults, other dogs. She would do best in a home with a patient family that will continue to work with her and teach her the things that she was unfortunately robbed of in her first year of life... to be a dog and be happy and accept affection. Small children running around and grabbing at her will frighten her, so older children would be best. Gisele is still working on ... well, everything. Eating from the food dish, house training, coming when called, walking on leash, accepting and giving affection. But wow, she is learing quickly and she has so much love to give. She will be ready to go home as soon as her heartworm treatment is complete and she tests negative. That should be by Mid September. Her fee will be $275. |
