Biography

Please say Hello to Buddy because he wants to get to know you and be your friend! Buddy is a super sweet man who loves to be with his humans. When you hold him, Buddy will lay his head on your shoulder and sigh with contentment! He also loves to lay beside you while you are watching TV or reading, and does not move a muscle unless it is to get his head nearer you for ear scratches. Buddy is completely housetrained although he will overmark another male. He eats and sleeps in his crate, and stays there without complaint and without soiling his bed. He is leash trained to a degree and enjoys being outside with you, sniffing all around.

Buddy was dumped over the fence at a small county shelter. When they tested him, he was HW+, so they contacted rescue. While treating Buddy's Heartworms, his Foster Mom noticed that Buddy was bumping into furniture and the other dogs. A short trip to an opthalmologist revealed that Buddy has Degenerative Retinal Atrophy. There is no treatment or cure, and Buddy would slowly go blind. He has now arrived at total blindness, but don't tell him there is anything wrong. Buddy goes outside with all the other dogs. He manipulates the stairs and enjoys wandering in his fenced yard. As long as you do not move things around, Buddy gets to everything he wants. He has been on several playdates in an off leash dog park, and interacts well with the other dogs there. He even jumped into the wading pool this summer to cool off!!!
Buddy has completely recovered from his Heartworms with no lasting effects. He is a happy healthy man with a bright future. The only thing Buddy needs now is a home to call his own, with someone who sees the beauty, not the blindness, in this wonderful little man. He will repay you a thousand times over with his loyalty and his love. Buddy's adoption fee is $275.00
