| We have six red longhair dachshund puppies (3 males/3 females) and two red silky wirehair dachshund puppies (1 male/1female) seeking their forever homes. Priority consideration will be given to applicants who are able to adopt two of these puppies so they can be raised together and have a friend their age. They will be ready for adoption on or about September 21. They are very sweet, playful and highly energetic. Adopters should be willing to work on all the basics including house-training, general house manners and walking on a leash and understand that doxies are not pocket pooches but rather big dogs in a little package. Because they are so young, they need an "at-home" adopter so they can grow up feeling secure. They are used to being kept in the kitchen in a pen with puppy pads. Seeking the same situation for them. They are way too small to crate. These puppies cannot be left for long hours. They will need a fenced in single family yard because we all know doxies are hounds who love to investigate, dig holes and chase bunnies, birds, squirrels, mice and Mr. Groundhog if he is around! Absolutely no invisible or electric fences. Adopters must be willing to take them to puppy obedience class and provide daily walks and stimulation so they can continue to be properly socialized. A doxie-savvy home preferred with a small young dog buddy who will play with the puppy. No big dogs or cats or senior dogs, please. They will get their rabies and three distemper shots and be spayed/neutered before adoption. ****Applicants must be willing to drive to Maryland to meet and adopt these puppies.
