Leia came in to DRNA rescue right before Christmas with her "brother" Luke; both had been dumped at a rural shelter in NC. We could not keep them together but two loving fosters stepped up to the plate, and DRNA did not hesitate to arrange for the vetting they so badly needed. During Leia's first night in rescue, Christmas Eve Eve (December 23), her foster mom noticed that she was in even worse shape than we had imagined. She had blood in her urine and was leaking pus from her precious little private parts. What to do? Emergency vet service is not inexpensive but Leia had to be seen. She started a course of antibiotics that night and another foster associate arranged rather miraculously to have Leia's surgery done the next day, on Christmas Eve. The vet was amazing and was obviously a guardian angel sent to save Leia's life when most other folks were home with their families. Leia pulled through her multiple surgeries and is recovering nicely but DRNA heeds your help paying for these extraordinary expenses. Thank you and Leia says woof...she hopes one of you might have a forever home for her in a few weeks!
