Spike has had it rough! First he was abandoned by his family and left free to roam the streets. He was hit by a car and taken to a local shelter with his leg mangled and in severe pain. Some wonderful folks decided that he was worth saving and took him to the vet where he had his rear leg amputated. Now with 3 legs, he thought he was ready for a new home until life threw him another curve ball. He was heart worm positive. Spike made it through heart worm treatment and is now ready for his new home. Maybe YOU can be his happily ever after.. Spike is an independent soul, maybe because of all he has been through. He does enjoy human attention but on his terms. He gets attached to his person/people and is devoted to only them. He isn't mean or aggressive towards others, just not interested. He takes time to warm up to new people. He does well with other dogs his own size and would also be fine as an only dog. Since he is a tri-pod, its important that he is kept at a good weight, being overweight is not good for him! So an active adopter and/or one that will manage his weight is essential. His adoption fee is $275 Must be willing to drive to Odenton MD to meet/adopt Spike |
