Duke is a very sweet little dog who was a stray taken to a local shelter. He had a neuter and a dental where all his teeth were pulled but four (that's why his tongue sticks out). He is doing remarkably well for going through all that. He is a cool little guy and seems to like everyone, human and canine. He is an active independent doxie who would make a wonderful companion for someone. Though he is independent, he loves human attention. Nothing seems to bother him. My word to describe Duke is "fearless". He meets people and other dogs with no issues and is quite the confident dog on walks. He walks well on a leash and knows to potty while on a walk. He really loves his blankets and curls into a ball in them. He spends quite a while arranging his bed so it is just right. He loves toys and having you throw the ball for him. He even likes carrying his favorite toy on walks. He is really best suited for an active adopter who would be willing to go on frequent walks, throw the ball for him and who has a fenced in secure yard for exploring. It would be nice for him to have a dog buddy in the home (who doesn't care about toys) if his adopters work so he wouldn't be alone but he would do fine as an only dog if his humans aren't gone long hours. ****Applicants must be willing to travel to Ellicott City MD (10 miles south of Baltimore) to meet and adopt Duke. Adoption fee waived for adopters 60 and over!**** |
