Gordy is a 10lb, 1yr old, long haired Doxie mix. He’s had a rough start in life. We believed he was abandoned and then struck by a car. A good samaritan found him laying in a ditch injured and he was taken to an emergency vet. DRNA stepped in and had him treated. He had suffered two broken pelvic bones and it was necessary to amputate his right hind leg. A wonderful rescue family cared and rehabilitated him through a veterinary approved program. He responded splendidly and after a number of rehab session (mainly working out in a pool to build strength in his other legs and learning to walk with three legs) he graduated and is looking for his forever home. He is the sweetest, most loving little guy who loves to cuddle. play, and run in the yard. He hasn’t let his mishap define him at all. There’s nothing he can’t do. He’s learned to use doggy stairs to get up and down from the couch and to cuddle with his doxie buddies and foster parents. For higher steps, he stops and waits to get lifted up. He’s fully housebroken and will let you know when he wants out to do his business. He isn’t particularly happy in a crate, but does tolerate it. He doesn’t like being left alone and will whine some. He spent a lot of time in a pen doing rehab and wasn’t left alone so got used to having his people around. Gordy loves to rough house and play tug of war with his doxie buddy Amos who’s near his age. He really needs a doggy buddy to play and run with. Gordy likes all dogs, people, and small children. He is a one of a kind boy that will bring enrichment to your life. Gordy's adoption fee is $275. Must be willing to drive to Glen Burnie, MD to meet/adopt Gordy |
