Poor Bailey was dealt a bad hand. He was a past foster of DRNA when he was 4 years old. Unfortunately he lost his home and everything he’s known for 5 years in a split second. One of the main reasons for this is due to the fact he would mark his territory on the babies toys. We brought him into our home April 17th and surely but slowly he’s been getting used to his surroundings the best he can. On April 18th we really threw him for a loop and took him to the vet for a much needed dental (his breath smelled like a garbage dump); he lost 9 teeth due to infection. He also received all of his shots and had a growth removed from his eyelid. The vet also noticed he has nuclear sclerosis which is a normal change to the lens of the eyes in older dogs. Dogs with this condition adapt to the changes in their eyesight so they can see. He will go for his dental recheck and booster shots in a couple weeks and will be good to move into your home.
It has been a week since we’ve had him in our home and we really are honored to be his foster parents. He is a real sweet, laid back boy. He does not seem to mind all the doxies in our home (7 not including him) but he’s not yet up to playing with them yet. He does love being outside soaking up the sun and sniffing every inch of the yard. His 2 favorite spots in the house are the bed and the recliner in the living room. I don’t know many dogs I have to pry out of the bed in the mornings to start the day and east breakfast but he is one of them. He loves to sleep in a crevice under the covers (what doxies do best). We are currently working on crate training. He howls but settles down a bit after. In his previous home he was kept in the kitchen with his fur siblings. He is potty trained.
We think he would do best in a home with a family that is home more often than not; possibly someone that is retired. Other dogs in the home would not be a problem. A relaxed, laid back home is what we think would suit him best. We believe he will make a great pet for someone looking for a companion that would be absolutely content lying around the house by your side or taking trip to the dog store to pamper him the way he deserves. He certainly loves car rides to the bank and post office as well.
If you think this man may be a good fit for your household he’s currently accepting applications and meet & greets. He currently is being fostered in Seven Hills, OH. If you have any questions please feel free to email his foster mommy at kmandml@hotmail.com. His adoption fee is $150.00
