Biography
They call me Barky Sparky. That might not sound too good, but you have to let me explain. It’s really quite an amusing story. I guess I should start from the beginning, though. When I was just a small puppy … maybe that’s too far back. Let’s go back to December of 2016. That was a time of great change for me. So far it’s all worked out for the best. A furever home would be the kibble on the cake, if you know what I mean. Anyway …my name is Spartacus, and I am a 7-year-old Double Dapple Dachshund (try saying that three times fast). My friends call me Sparky and, until recently, I had a family. Unfortunately I had to leave them because their special needs child became too rough with me so, for my safety, I needed to find a new home. Like many Double Dapples, I have vision problems so the move to a foster home was a scary time for me. I ended up with my new foster family right before Christmas, and let me tell you that after I got used to them it was really exciting! So many presents too open! It was a little tricky without the smells, but it sure was fun. Now I have a foster brother and sister to play with, and I love that. My foster mom says I would make a great companion dog. She also says that I am a bit too amorous with my foster sister. I’m not sure what that means, but she says that it is getting much better. I think it means that I just love her a lot. I have heard my foster mom and dad say that I am a really well-behaved dog, and they are very excited because I always go outside to use the bathroom. I don’t know why that’s such a big deal. I mean, of course I do. I’m a dog! I am also crate trained, and will get in it when I am asked to. They get excited about the weirdest things. I really love humans, too. I want to sit in your lap and be around you all the time. Even though I have vision problems, I can see enough out of one eye to make my way around. Because I can’t see very well I do sometimes bark too much when I hear sounds or when someone new comes in. They say that is much better now that I’ve been here a while, and I listen for them to tell me what is happening. Even though I bark, I love meeting new people. It will probably take me a few days to get to know your home and not bark so much. I love to eat, but I am on a diet. I’m not sure what a diet is, but I’m sure it must be fun. I am just a very happy dog, and now I love the way I look when I walk past the mirror. If you are looking for a handsome guy with beautiful light blue eyes please check me out. Please email my foster family at kassiedoggie@comcast.net and fill out an application at www.drna.org so my forever home can be with you. Woof and I love you already!
