Biography
Lady (aka "Ladybug") and her brother Charlie (11980) came to DRNA as owner surrenders, through no fault of their own. They were being kept outside with an electric fence surrounding the yard. Charlie was injured when he bumped into the electric fence and then was attacked by a larger dog. Another dog was injured at the time as well. The family took that dog to the vet but did not seek medical treatment for Charlie. Thankfully, a good Samaritan was able to step in and help Charlie and Lady. Charlie was taken to the vet for his injuries and his neck has healed beautifully.
Lady came to her foster home incredibly timid. In the beginning she was hesitant to go outside, considering the injury Charlie received when they were in their previous owner's yard. But after taking some time to decompress and settle in, little by little, she has started to come out of her shell. She now enjoys being outside and when she's ready to go in, she goes to the door. However, she will sometimes flatten her body when foster mom approaches the door. So, foster mom now makes it a playful time so Lady doesn't get nervous and that has worked well.

Lady came to us with dry skin and a coarse coat. Her Isabella (blue) coloring does make her prone to skin issues. She does have some bare spots but, thanks to a grain free diet, her coat has improved in color and softness.
She is dog friendly and enjoys having a canine companion to curl up with, but she is not in any way interested in playing with another dog. She likes being a lap dog. She loves being kissed and having her belly rubbed. She climbs up on foster mom's chest and turns her head for foster mom to kiss the side of her face.
Lady needs a patient, experienced dog owner who will give her the time and space she needs to make a successful transition to a new home and family. She would do best in a quiet home with no young children. Dog savvy older children maybe under the right circumstance. She enjoys exploring around my yard, so a fenced in area would be beneficial. She doesn't always let foster mom know when she has to potty, so we're still working on that.
