Biography
30 Sep 16 - Mabel is a precious 9 month old special needs baby currently being fostered in Waynesville, MO. She was born with a condition in which her back legs do not bend as they should. Instead, they are very stiff and fold underneath of her with her back feet pointing towards her head. She has been seen by two different specialty vets who think that with as young as she is, and since she does have feeling in her hind end that with a lot of work with stretching and exercises that there is a slim chance that in time she may adjust to regular walking. Until then, she will be ordered her very own cart to wheel around in. Here is a little about this spunky little girl. Mabel is a 16lb, brown and tan (with a beautiful blue sheen), Dachshund/Beagle mix. She is extremely playful with everyone; dogs (no matter sex or size), cats, kids, adults. She just loves to play with anyone who will play with her. Regardless of her current condition, this little girl will still run and very quickly I might add. She chases and runs from the other pups in her foster home as well as joins them in digging for moles! She is quite able to get up on her back legs to run, almost like a bunny hop, and if you have food she will make it to you before any of the other dogs! She LOVES food and treats. At feeding times, she won’t hesitate to sit at your feet and verbally let you know that she is ready and waiting. She will also let you know, with her beagle bark, if someone is at your door. She is used to and comfortable with a kennel, although she is only minimally kenneled now. While she does seem to be able to use the bathroom on her own now, she does so quite frequently so for peace of mind in the home it would be suggested to either keep a diaper on her or to express her bladder very often (every couple of hours). If not, she will leave quite a trail of urine through the home. She loves riding in vehicles and going out to public places meeting people. She can’t get enough attention. She also likes to cuddle next to you in bed and root underneath the covers. She will be a wonderful addition to some lucky family. Any inquiries about Mabel can be sent directly to her foster mom at jewels67@hotmail.com. You can also view videos of Mabel on her Youtube page titled “Makea Difference”.
