Biography
Found abandoned and starving in a crate Buddy & Lizzy are survivors and have formed a close bond. Buddy especially is watchful of Little Lizzy and they are always curled up together when not in a lap. They are extremely loving and bond quickly to anyone who gives them the love & attention they crave.

Happy go lucky Buddy is missing most of his teeth...removed after rescue due to them being so rotten and infected.... and the reason his tongue hangs out the side of his mouth. But lack of teeth does not slow him down when it comes time to eat his dry kibble. Buddy loves squeaky toys, playing fetch tennis balls and chewing (sucking) on rawhide bones. But his favorite thing is curled up on the sofa next to his person & Lizzy.

Lizzy is more of the diva princess type and likes to be picked up, held and cuddled. She doesn't like cold weather and has to be carried outside to potty when not up to her standards. Since she gets cold easily a sweater in the colder months seems to help . Like many small dachshunds can be very wary of strangers especially when on the ground, Once you pick her up she generally calms down. Lizzy also goes a little cuckoo when she sees a big dog so she needs a solid fenced yard for her to feel safe.

House training seems to be their biggest issue but are making very good progress with access to a doggie door and being taken outside after eating. Since we aren't sure of their history they may never have been house trained and just been breeder dogs.

A fenced in yard is a must as neither is good about pottying on a leash, especially Lizzy. No cats or big dogs in the home for these 2 and no young children. Both get along fine with other dachshunds in their foster home, but Buddy tends to be grumpy with other males when it comes to Lizzy..... she is his woman and wants to be sure the other boys know it. They sleep together in a crate at night without fuss and but like all dachshund would love to curl up in the big bed.
