Biography

One day Quincy and Harley's owner put on their handsome new harnesses, removed their old collars & tags and loaded them into the car. The boys rode in the car happy & excited to be on an adventure with new sights and smells. They drove way out into the county away from any homes or businesses and then their owner got the boys out of the car. But once the boys were out of the car their owner got back in the car and drove away…. I imagine a confused Quincy & Harley sat there beside the road waiting for their person(s) to return for them. And after a time they started getting scared, thirst and hungry wondering what to do out in the middle of nowhere. Probably thinking surely their person(s) would be coming back for them, they were good dogs, just getting a little old…. Wondering what was happening and why….they just wanted to go home to their warm bed and a food bowl.

Animal Control luckily found the boys thin and scared (who know how long they had been abandon) and took them to the shelter. The boys were put on stray hold but no one ever came to claim them. Time was quickly running out for these 2 senior dachshunds when a DRNA Rep called and got them a stay of execution while she searched for a foster home for them. After over a month in the shelter they arrived in DRNA foster care. They walked into their foster home claimed a big pillow bed & blanket and slept for almost 24 hr. The boys were exhausted after the stressful ordeal they had been through. A few days later they had dental surgery where they both lost 20 nasty teeth each. But don't think this causes them any problems eating. Just put down their bowl of dry kibble and they eat it up just as quickly as dogs with all their teeth. And they still demand a rawhide when the other younger dogs get one and really enjoy sucking on them.

Quincy and Harley are the sweetest old guys you would ever meet and very devoted to each other. Now that they are feeling better, they have such character and always make you smile. All they want is love, companionship and a warm bed and blanket. Curling up with you on the sofa to watch TV is their favorite place. They know how to use a doggie door and seem to be housetrained.

So please, when looking for a new companion to adopt, consider these 2 wonderful senior dachshunds that have a lot of love to give for many more years to come.
